We made it safely to Beijing at 8:00 last night! Going through customs I had a little scare when they scanned my passport. I was the last of our family to go through, and a red light flashed on the computer when the officer scanned it. She started scrutinizing my picture and my face, called her superior over, & the superior got on the telephone with someone else. I suddenly had visions of “Locked Up Abroad” or that movie with Claire Danes in Thailand! Happily they let me through after a scary couple of minutes!!
Our guide was waiting for us outside and got us all settled in our hotel. The hotel workers were not-so-covertly videoing us while we checked in. Ha! We’re famous!
In about an hour and a half we’re off to a full day of sightseeing in Beijing. More later!
